Shirley Shake

Shirley "Margie" Marjorie Shake, 93, of Motley, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples, MN. Services for Shirley will be 2:00PM, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader, MN with Pastor Dave Stevens officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7PM, Friday, June 17, 2016 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples,with a prayer service at 6:45PM and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Swan Valley Cemetery in Leader, MN.

Shirley was born May 6, 1923 to Ray and Cora Bacon. She grew up in Minneapolis. After her parents passed away, she moved to the Staples area and graduated from Staples High School. Shirley married Woodrow Wilson Shake in Minneapolis. She and Woodrow ran a dairy farm for many years. Shirley worked at Madden's Resort for 45 years and was on the Lakewood Health System Hospital Board for 40 years. Shirley was a longtime member of the Swan Valley Lutheran Church. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, and reading, but especially treasured spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her children, Betty (Steve) Lorber of Motley, Steve Shake of Buhl, MN, Jo Pollock of Pillager, Emily Tholl of Motley, Denise (Steve) Bickford of Motley, Larry Shake of Motley; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great -grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Gary Shake and Sherry Jacobs; infant siblings, Phillip Ray and Betty Jean; and sister, MaryAnn Olson-Meyer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
