Shirley A Munholand, 72, of Crosslake died Saturday, February 28, at her home. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 6, 11 AM, at Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake, with Reverend Steven Anderson officiating. Friends may visit Friday, March 5, 5-7 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake. Interment will be at Norwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred, to the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Association. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
Shirley Ann Travis was born March 29, 1931, in Tenstrike, to Margaret (Hampl) and Roy Travis. She graduated from Backus High School. She was united in marriage to Eldon ?Puz? Munholand in Walker, on August 28, 1948. They moved to Minneapolis, where Shirley was a homemaker; devoting her life to her family and her church. After retirement Puz and Shirley moved to Crosslake. She was an active member of Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church, and enjoyed participating in church auxiliaries and functions. She was also a supporter of Camp Knutson, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, and traveling.
Shirley is survived by Eldon, her husband of 55 years; three daughters, Betty (Steven) White, of Shoreview, Kathryn (Russell) Miller, of Vadnais Heights, Barbara (Randy) Hemstad, of Milaca; a son, Bruce (Keri) Munholand, of Anchorage, AK; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Travis, of Foley. Her parents, a brother, Richard, and a granddaughter, Meesa, preceded her in death.
