Shirley was born September 29, 1936 in Minneapolis to Rev. Leonard and Virginia (Just) Anderson. Her faith in God was instilled at a very young age, and throughout her life she has continued to walk strongly in her faith. Following graduation from New London High School, Shirley worked as a secretary at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where she met the love of her life, Dr. Mark A. Muesing. The couple was married on July 20, 1958 in Minneapolis and had four children. Shirley and Mark moved to Tyler, MN following their nuptials; the couple made their home in Tyler from 1958-1971. In 1971, Shirley and Mark moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area. She found great serenity looking out over the waters of Gull Lake. Shirley was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS), where she was an organist and taught Sunday School. She instilled the importance of faith to many young people, including her children. Shirley was always looking out for others and volunteering with many organizations. She is past president of the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary and Brainerd Hockey Auxiliary. Shirley enjoyed sewing, playing Bridge, cross country skiing, and wintering in South Padre. She was caring, generous, and loving; above all else she loved each one of her family members beyond words. Shirley will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
