Shirley Bjerga

Shirley A. Bjerga, 69, of Motley, died on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Services for Shirley will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Motley Free Methodist Church in Motley, MN with a visitation on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN and from 9:00-10:00 AM prior to the service, with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating.

Shirley was born on July 19, 1944 in Staples, MN to Vernon and Francis (Hoemberg) Peterson. She graduated in 1962 from Staples High School and went on to marry Ervin Bjerga in Staples on July 14, 1962. Shirley loved to dance to country music, enjoyed watching wildlife, loved family gatherings, shopping, traveling, flower gardening, keeping houseplants, fishing, bowling and taking care of people.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ervin; children, Jeff of Motley, MN, Kristin of Motley, MN, and Nicole (Todd) Hirschey of Staples, MN; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, William (Jeanette) Peterson of Coon Rapids, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judean Longbella. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
