Sheila Holtan

January 9, 1937 — June 12, 2015

Sheila A. Holtan, 78, of Brainerd, MN passed away peacefully at home of unexpected natural causes on Friday, June 12, 2015. Services for Sheila will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at First Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Michael Small officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Sheila was born on January 9, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN to Lester and Ina (Nordberg) Lageson. She graduated high school from Columbia Heights in 1955. She married Bert Holtan on July 29, 1955 at First Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights. They traveled and lived in numerous cities throughout the United States. Bert traveled for work and Sheila worked nights at various hospitals in the emergency department while raising four kids. They also owned and operated Holtan's Resort and Fronteer Directory of MN and NV. Sheila enjoyed live music concerts, books, and traveling. Sheila volunteered at KAXE - Northern Community Radio. She loved going on adventures with her family. Sheila lived in the Brainerd Lakes Area and at her home in Lake Las Vegas near Henderson, NV.

Sheila is survived by her children, Cindy (Gary) Jackson of Eden Prairie, MN, Timothy Holtan of Brainerd, MN, Keith (Jane) Holtan of Kenai, AK, and Heidi (Tom Cobb) Holtan of Grand Rapids, MN; brother, Dean Lageson of Brainerd, MN; sister, Sue (Mark) Lundholm of Palatine, IL; grandchildren, Sarah (Vinson) Stamm, Anna Jackson, and Mac Holtan; and great-grandchildren, Hayden and Breken Stamm and foreign exchange granddaughter Moe Kitabayashi of Japan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ina; and her husband, Bert in 2008. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
