Sharon Day, 71, of Brainerd, MN was suddenly ushered into heaven early on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, NE. Services for Sharon will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00AM at Faith Baptist Church in Brainerd, MN with Pastor Chris Erickson officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church from 5:00-8:00PM and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd, MN.
Sharon was born on March 25, 1945 in Macomb, IL to Rolland and Gail (Endsley) Powell. She was raised and educated in the St. Mary's Prairie area in Illinois. She graduated in 1963 from Plymouth Community High School. Sharon graduated from West Suburban School of Nursing in Oak Park, IL on August 25, 1966 and married Max Day on August 27, 1966 at St. Mary's, IL. They lived in Owatonna, MN for one year while Max finished school and then moved to Minneapolis where she worked as an RN at North Memorial Hospital while Max attended seminary. Following seminary they moved to Janesville, WI where she worked as an RN for five years. Sharon worked in Cannon Falls, MN for eight years, before living in Champlin, where Max pastored and she was Director of Nursing at Maranatha Nursing Home in Brooklyn Center, MN. They moved to Brainerd, MN in 2006. Sharon was a devoted pastor's wife and caregiver. She played piano for church and family and enjoyed beading, making jewelry, and knitting. Sharon was an avid reader and was a passionate rubber stamper and card maker. Her greatest joy was spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Max; children, Lori Dredge of Gray Court, SC, Tim (Lisa) Day of Coon Rapids, MN, Holly (Scott) Williams of Frankfort, IL, Amy (Tom) Struck of Hainesville, IL, and Jeremy (Julie) Day of Mount Juliet, TN; thirteen grandchildren, Brenna, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Kaylee, Ashley, Maggie, Madelynn, Ally, Bryson, Austin, Alex, Adam, and Parker; and sister, Shirley (John) Cleland of Erie, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Gail; and infant brother. Memorials are preferred to Bibles International 609 36th St SE Grand Rapids, MI 49548 or MN Regular Baptist Camp 39725 225th Street Winnebago, MN 56098. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
