Sarah Johnson

Sarah F. Johnson, age 89, of Staples, passed away on Saturday morning surrounded by her family. Mass will be on Tuesday Jan 9th, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Kirchner officiating. The wake will be Monday evening from 4-7 at the funeral home, with the Rosary at 6:30 and Parish Prayers at 6:45. Burial will at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples. Sarah was born on October 2, 1917 in Randall ,MN, to Herman and Victoria (Hines) Schmidt. Se grew up in the area and attended school there. On November 9, 1935 she was joined in marriage to Lyle Johnson, and this union was blessed with 7 children. Sarah enjoyed sewing and knitting, as well as shopping and traveling. She was a member of the Mission Circle and The Staples Lionesses. She was a devout Catholic who never missed a time of prayer in the morning and evening. Sarah is survived by her children, Gary (Janice) Johnson, of Staples, Dale Johnson, of Pillager, Patricia (Ken) Myers, of Chandler AZ, Allan Johnson, of Anoka, MN, Kay (David) Jessop, of Staples, Charlotte Stern, of Staples, and Cindy (Jason) Moralas, of Huntsville, AL; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 6 great, great- grandchildren; sisters, Madeline Perkins and Sophie Van Hoever; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her parents; siblings, Pete, Leo, Frank, Tillie, and May; granddaughter Sara Rae; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
