Sandy (Mathison) Hamilton, 53, of Pequot Lakes, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 surrounded by her family. Services for Sandy will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes with Revered Frank Milo officiating. Friends are welcome to visit Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will follow services on Thursday at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake. Memorials preferred to the local Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund.
Sandy was born April 12, 1956, in Morris, MN, the daughter of Merle and Ielene (Flannigan) Mathison. While she was young, her family moved to a dairy farm near Pequot Lakes. After graduating from Pillager High School, Sandy worked a variety of jobs. She started in the hospitality industry before working in retail sales and as a retail manager in several gift shops in the Nisswa/Crosslake area. Her employers appreciated her dedication and honesty. She was a person you could count on. Sandy was united in marriage to Bob Hamilton on April 9, 2003 in Duluth, MN.

Sandy enjoyed her family and liked to spend time with her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She liked to garden and crochet. Along with her husband, Sandy enjoyed taking vacations, traveling and visiting museums.

She will be missed by her husband, Bob Hamilton; her father, Merle Mathison, of Brainerd her mother, Ielene (Bob Wallin) Mathison, of Pequot Lakes; her sisters, Cindy (John) Terwilliger, of Lake Shore and Susan (Mark) Young, of Lake Shore; step-sons, Robert Hamilton, Steven (Sarah) Hamilton, and Adam (Joel Muggy) Hamilton; her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Myron Lee.
