Sandra Kaye (Moulton) Steiger, 74, of Walker, and formerly Charlotte, NC, died peacefully on November 27, 2017. She was born on June 7, 1943, in Lac Qui Parle County, MN, to the late Harold and Helen (Hoyum) Moulton. Sandy graduated from Montevideo High School in 1961. After earning her bachelor's degree in elementary education at St. Cloud State College she went on to teach children in the St. Louis public schools. In her professional career, Mrs. Steiger worked as a classroom teacher, a bookkeeper and an office manager. Among her long-term employers were Minnesota Fabrics and Mitchell & Becker Co.
In 1965 she married Curtis Boe. To that union two sons were born, Christopher and Shawn. Sandy met Norman Steiger on August 24, 1988. They became engaged on November 22, 1988, and were married July 22, 1989. The couple retired to Walker on May 12, 2000.
Throughout her life, Sandy was engaged in church work. She served as an elder, council member, Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School director. She used her talents in her active community volunteer efforts including Quilts of Valor and the local food pantry.
A lifelong Vikings fan, Sandy was an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and quilting. Sandy built strong, long-standing friendships that brought opportunities for entertaining and fellowship. She was a prolific reader who enjoyed sharing books with others. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful and bountiful gardens. She enjoyed spending time with family. In her retirement she also enjoyed having the opportunity to travel.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Norman Steiger; sons, Dr. Christopher Boe (David Scire) and Shawn Boe; sisters and brother: Donna Wobeck (August), Roger Moulton, Kathie Krocak (Greg); grandson, Shaun Boe; and her stepchildren, Dianna Steiger and Wilson (Miki) Steiger.
A memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hackensack, MN, on December 16, at 11 AM with visitation at 10 AM. Her sons, Christopher and Shawn, will host a reception in celebration of their mother in Charlotte, NC.
