Samuel Morriss

Samuel E. Morriss, age 56, of Staples, passed away at the Heritage House in Pequot Lakes on Friday, February 10. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 16th, at 2:00 PM, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Sam was born on August 21st, 1955, in Winnsboro, LA, to Joseph and Helen (Johnson) Morriss. His family moved to Staples, MN when he was in high school, graduating from Staples High in 1973. He went on to college at Bemidji State University, where he received a BS in Mass Communication and a BA in History. Sam loved sports and worked as a sports announcer for over 30 years.

Samuel in survived by his sons, James Morriss of Minneapolis, and Michael Morriss of Wadena; two grandchildren; siblings, Eric (Mary) Nelson, Joe Morriss, and Melissa (Glenn) Olson; two nieces; two nephews; and former wife, Nancy Morriss. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Greg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
