Ruth "Red" (Spencer) Wold, 81, of Brooklyn Park, formerly of Motley, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Therese of New Hope. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Staples Assembly of God Church. Family and friends are invited to gather Tuesday evening from 5-7 Pm at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Interment will take place at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Ruth was born at the family home on April 11, 1930, in Swanville, MN, the daughter of Frank and Lucy Pearl (Taylor) Spencer. She was the 11th child of 13 children. In 1950 Red married Cal Meide, from this union five children were born: David, Connie, Shirley, Kellene, and Mark. In 1967, she started working for Brainerd State Hospital as a Human Services Technician, Sr. In 1979, Ruth remarried Dennis E. Wold and they made their home in Brooklyn Park. After their marriage Ruth was transferred to the Anoka State Hospital, retiring in 1993.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; son, David (Jean) Meide, of Staples; daughters, Connie (Larry) Moorleghem, of Las Vegas, NV and Kellene (Joseph) Walters, of Coon Rapids; brothers, Rusty, of GA and Gordon, of WA; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Frank (38); mother, Lucy (67); son, Mark (93); daughter, Shirley (06); sisters, Winona (80) and Violet (90); brothers, WWII Pvt. William (43), WWII Pvt. Alfred (45), Bennett (06), Leonard (61), Clarence (97), James (07), and George (07).
