Ruth Talbot

Ruth Marie (Flaskerud) Talbot, 81, formerly of the Brainerd Lakes Area, of Lago Vista, TX, passed away on Sunday Morning, September 30, 2018 at The Hospice House, Bend, OR.

She was born to Ole M. and Ione L. (Helland) Flaskerud at home in Brainerd, MN on October 16, 1936.

Ruth graduated from Brainerd Senior High School in 1954. She graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a degree in Theology on December 17, 1993. She was ordained to the work of The Gospel Ministry, Chaplaincy at the Bisbee Baptist Church in Mansfield TX on June 12, 1994.

Ruth loved helping and serving the Lord in any way she could. She also was on the Board of Truth Be Told in Texas a women's prison ministry for a while, an active Rotarian, and involved in many of the social organizations around Lago Vista TX where they lived. She was one of the church planters for Eagles Nest Church in Breezy Point, MN. Ruth loved and prized family time and playing games and being together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Ione Flaskerud; husband, Donald Barnes; sons, Michael Barnes and Jerry Don Barnes; and brother, James Flaskerud. She is survived by her loving husband Nathan Talbot; daughter Lynn (Paul) Hunt; son, Kevin Barnes; brother, Tom (Carla) Flaskerud; and sister, Denise (John) Toth; 12 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on October 11, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, MN. On Friday, October 12, A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Grandview Lodge, Norway Room in Nisswa MN, followed by an interment at about 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd MN.
