Ruth Swanson

Ruth Swanson, 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd, MN. Private family services will be held at Brookings, South Dakota.
Ruth Iola Swanson , the youngest of 15 children, was born to August and Vernia (Hoffa) Telkamp on September 6, 1919 in Brookings, SD. She graduated from Brookings High School with the class of 1937. Ruth attended her 70th class reunion in 2007. She was united in marriage to Keith Swanson in 1937. Keith passed away in 1959.

She was a LPN in Sioux Falls, SD and Garden Grove, CA for over 28 years. Ruths hobbies were baking, playing cards and quilting, cross stitching and embroidering. She dreamed of fishing and catching the big one! She was a member of Crystal Cathedral of Garden Grove, CA. She moved to Minnesota in 2006, to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Charyl (Roger) Richters of Outing, MN; sons Lon (Patty) Swanson of Tracy, CA, and Mark Swanson of Long Beach, CA; sisters Vida Logan of Mission Hills, CA, and Orella Carey of Sioux Falls, SD; 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Keith; daughter Barbara, 7 brothers and 5 sisters.
