Ruth Severin, 89, of Crosslake, died at her home, Tuesday, April 13, 2004. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Friday, April 16 at Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake with Reverend Mark Anderson officiating. Friends may visit Friday morning at the church beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment will be at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.
Ruth Susan Severin was born August 27, 1914 to Ira ?Dennis? and Silvia (Pence) Wiltsey in Fredrick, SD. She graduated from Marshall High School in Minneapolis, before attending the University of Minnesota. She then took some time to travel. She was united in marriage to Roland Severin August 29, 1942 in Minneapolis. They resided in Hamel. Ruth worked in the accounting department of Loven Brothers Oil Company. Following the death of her husband, Ruth moved to Crosslake, where she was employed by Crosslake Lumber. She moved to Corcoran, before retiring in Crosslake permanently in 1976. Ruth has an active member of the Crosslake Lutheran Church and Crosslake American Legion Post 500 Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, and making quilts. She also enjoyed knitting mittens for children.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Carol (Roger) Johnson, of LeSueur and Judy Maturi, of Crosslake; her sisters, Dorothy (John) Moller, of Brainerd and Vivian Kalton, of Webster City, IA; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by, her husband, Roland; and her brothers, Donald, Harold, and Marvin.
