Ruth Kuhlman

Ruth Ann Kuhlman, 83, of Crosslake, passed away February 7, 2011 at the Florida Hospital - Kissimmee, FL. A Funeral Service for Ruth Ann will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake with Pastor Leslie Uhrinak officiating. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake and on Thursday morning at the church one hour prior to services. A second Funeral Service is planned for 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Edina, MN, with Reverend Mark Shockey officiating. Family and friends are also welcome to gather one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will follow Saturday's services at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to Philip E. Kuhlman Scholarship Endowment at Concordia University, Seward, NE. The endowment provides scholarships for Concordia University students preparing for careers as teachers in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.

Ruth Ann was born June 5, 1927, in Karlstad, MN, the daughter of Axel and Mabel (Erickson) Lofgren. After graduating high school, Ruth Ann graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Home Economics. She taught at Lutheran High School of Minneapolis for many years. In 1949, she was united in marriage to Elmer Kuhlman in Hallock, MN. Following their retirement, Ruth Ann and Elmer moved to the Crosslake Area in 1994. Ruth Ann was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Edina and Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake. She was very active and enjoyed spending time with church activities.

She will be missed by her husband, Elmer; her sons, Richard, of Edina, Robert (Trudy), of Edina, and Daniel (Susan), of Lakeville; and her grandchildren, Tamara, Nathan, Ashley and Melissa. She was preceded in death by her son, Philip; her parents; her sister, Phyllis Buchan; and her brother, Paul Lofgren.
