Ruth Gustafson

Ruth Gustafson, age 93, of Brainerd, MN passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001 at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd. Services will be on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, at 1:00 PM with Reverend Robert Twiton officiating. Burial will be in the Baxter City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Ruth Gustafson was born May 6, 1907 in Sweden to Johan and Selma (Peterson) Jonasson. She came to America on September 28, 1928 and worked as a domestic for the Pillsbury family. She met her husband Henning Gustafson at a dance at the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, MN and they were married on March 30, 1929 in Minneapolis. Ruth was a homemaker most of her life. She has had a lake home on Lower Cullen since 1956. She was a charter member of Diamond Lake Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, which was an important part of her life. She moved to Baxter March 31, 2000.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Lyell) Stai of Baxter; 3 grandchildren, Deborah Kaehn of Gary, MN, Steven Stai of Eagen, MN, Teresa Lenz, of Lake Mary, FL, 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband Henning died on February 8, 1977. Her parents and 6 brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.
