Russell Thurrott

Russell C. Thurrott, age 96, of Baxter, MN died January 27, 2003 at home. Russell Clark Thurrott was born on January 28, 1906 in Taunton, Massachusetts to Russell Clark & Flora (Whitford) Thurrott Sr. He enlisted in the United State Navy at the age of 17 as a seaman after serving in the Navy for 24 years he retired as a Lieutenant Commander. He was united in marriage to Lenore Josie McLaughlin. After his retirement from the Navy he worked for Civil Service for 20 years. He and Lenore enjoyed traveling. Lenore passed away in 1989. Russell enjoyed sailing, boating, being around children, attending football games and living in the Lakes Area with his host family, the Woods, who cared for him the last seven years. He was a member of the Masons and Kiwanians.
Russell is survived by 2 daughters, Pamela Mazo-Thurrott of Eureka, CA, Claudia Thurrott of San Diego, CA; 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. His wife Lenore, daughter Barbara and his parents preceded him in death.

Services were private. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California next to his wife Lenore. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
