Russell Dahl

Russell Jerome Dahl , 82 of Staples, died March 16, 2013 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 23 at Staples Congregational Church in Staples. Burial will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples in the spring. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church, as well as Friday, March 22 at Brenny Funeral Home, Staples from 5 - 7 p.m.

Russ was born July 23, 1930 in Staples to Henry and Maude (Poore) Dahl. He graduated from Staples High School in 1948. Russ attended Moorehead State College and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He hired out with the Northern Pacific Railway Company. On Jan. 26, 1957 he married Meredith Hankey. Russ was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, VFW and the American Legion. He loved local sports, crossword puzzles and the game of golf.

Russ is survived by one daughter, Andrea Erlacher; two sons, Clark (Julie); Tom (Michelle); 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; three brothers, Harry; Walt; Mac; two sons, Kelly and Bob; one daughter, Deb; and two grandchildren.
