Roy Joenks

Roy Joenks "JR", age 81, of Pine River, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society Pine River. He was born September 21, 1929, in Dakota City, Iowa, to Roy, Sr. and Irene (Chantland) Joenks. Roy served his country in the Army as a paratrooper during the Korean conflict. He married Jean Boicourt in December of 1950. He was a Boy Scout leader and member of American Legion Post 613 in Pine River. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his shop.

Roy is survived by his children: Wallace Joenks, of Pine River; Trissie (David) Simmons, of Brainerd, Sharon (Alan) Stene, of Montana, Odessa Joenks, of Pine River; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean, son, Dennis, sister, Julie Thompson and brother, Bill.

Services will be 10 AM on Monday, October 25, at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
