Roy George Dolmar, 88, of Crosslake, died Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village - Bethany in Brainerd. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Crosslake Evangelical Free Church "The Log Church" in Crosslake. Family and friends are invited to gather starting at 12:30 PM. Interment will take place at a later date.
Roy was born August 9, 1927, in Superior, WI, the son of George and Magnhil "Betsy" (Tilselth) Dolmar. The family lived in Duluth until Roy turned 12 when they relocated to Minneapolis. Roy graduated from Roosevelt High School before he served in the Coast Guard during WWII. In was later drafted by the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1956 he married Virginia Althaus. The couple was married for 59 years. Roy worked as an accountant for Northwest Airlines for 34 years before moving to Crosslake in September of 1989. He was active in his retirement years - serving on many commissions for the City of Crosslake as well as being an active member of The Log Church. He was a founding member of the Crosslake Area Garden Club. Roy enjoyed fishing, golfing, cats and growing roses. Most of all, Roy loved his family - they were the most important part of his life.
Roy will be missed by his wife, Virginia; son, Dan, of Redding, CA; seven grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diane Srdar; son Christopher; and sister, June.
