Following a short illness, Rosella M. Hoemberg, resident of Lakewood Healthcare Center, died at the age of 97 and 1/2 on Wednesday, June 17th.
She was born on February 8, 1916 in Staples, MN to Mary (Fleischmann) and Frank Hoemberg. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Staples High School in 1934 and then the Brady & Rogers School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis, MN.
During her lifetime, Rosella enjoyed a variety of careers. For a few years, she was a store clerk at Heier's Grocery Store in Staples; a cosmetologist in St. Cloud, Minneapolis and California; a dental assistant to Dr. St. Pierre and Dr. Garland; and until her retirement in 1982, a secretary at the Sacred Heart School. Her favorite hobbies were her family's genealogy and unofficial Staples historian.
Rosella is a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and its Mission Circle.
She is survived by her sister, Sister Ruth Hoemberg, OSF, St Joseph Convent, Milwaukee, WI; nieces Mary Gust and Ruth Ackeret, Wisconsin; and nephews, Blaine De Golier, New York, Tim Ackeret, California, and Doug, Duluth, Steve Sr., John and George Hoemberg, Staples. She also leaves great and great great nieces and nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Kathryn Ackeret & Loretta De Golier; brother Clarence Hoemberg; and nephews Dennis De Golier and Donald Hoemberg.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sacred Heart School, the Lakewood Healthcare Center or the Lakewood Hospice Unit.
