Rose Taylor

Rose Taylor, age 80, of Backus, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009. She was born July 9, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Max and Elvera Geihs. She married Billy Taylor on December 28, 1946. They were married 51 years until his death on November 30, 1997. They owned Portage Camp Resort in Backus from 1964 to 1980. Rose was a teacher's aide at the Backus School for 16 years, Powers Township clerk for several years, and also coordinated a hospice program in Backus. She was an active member of Backus Legion Auxiliary, Backus Lions Club, Red Hatters, Powder Puffs, Birthday Club and Sewing Club.

Rose is survived by her children: Bill Taylor (Mel) of Backus, Bob Taylor (Pat) of Marietta, GA, Brad Taylor (Bobbi) of San Antonio, TX, Bonnie Nicholson of Baraboo, WI; eleven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, October 24, at the Church of the Nazarene, Backus, with Pastor Greg Baker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
