Rose Rengel

September 3, 1922 — February 5, 2008

Rose Rengel, age 85, of Staples, died at her home Tuesday afternoon, February 5, 2008. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at 11:00 with Father Peter Kirchner officiating. Wake will be Monday evening, February 11, from 5-7pm at the Brenny Funeral Home of Staples. Burial will conclude in the spring at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Home of Staples.
Rose Mary was born on September 3, 1922 in Staples, MN to Wenzel and Elizabeth Heier, Rose was the second youngest of ten children. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Staples High in 1940. In 1939, Rose was Queen of the Staples 50th anniversary. After graduation, she worked as a secretary in the high school principals office where she met and later married John Rengel, a teacher and coach in the high school. They married in St. Cloud during WWII while John was on leave from the Navy. She continued to live in Staples but traveled coast to coast when Johns ship reached port. After Johns return, they lived in Staples and she raised a family of eight boys, all of whom attended Staples schools. Raising the family kept her busy cooking, cleaning ironing and enjoying the raising of her family. Rose was active in Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Ladies Circle, Meals on Wheels was part of her later life. The greatest moments of her life were those with her grand children and great grand children. Being around them always brought a twinkle to her eyes. She was very generous to all whom she met.Rose will be greatly missed by family, friends and anyone that she came in contact with.

She is survived by eight children; Jack, Palm Desert, CA, Phil (Gail), Portland, OR, Rick (Lind), Berrington, IL, Bob, Staples, Bud (Mary), Mahtomedi, MN, David (Dinah), Brooklyn, NY Jerry (Claire), Maple Grove, MN, Joel (Pam), Maple Grove, MN; 15 Grandchildren; 66 Great Grandchildren; 1 sister Dorothy Fread, 1 brother Fred Heier; many nieces, nephews and friends.
