Rose Ranney

Rose E. Ranney, 88, of Brainerd, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at Carefree Living. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Blake Rozier officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather Friday evening at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter on Friday, April 22 from 5-7 PM and Saturday beginning at noon at the church. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Brainerd.

Rose was born September 15, 1927, in Roseau County, MN, the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Puttbrese) Gust. She married Alfred Praska and the couple raised their family and operated a farm in Badger, MN. Rose moved to Brainerd where she met and married James Ranney and they grew the family. While living in Brainerd, she worked at Dutch Room Bar for 40 years before retiring.

Rose was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing flowers. She also liked to play cards and crochet. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She will be missed by her children, Wayne (Sally) Praska, of Badger, Arlen (Benet) Praska, of Maplewood, Roszella (LeRoy) Horner, of Deerwood, Merlin (Ramona) Praska, of GA, Alfred "Babe" (Lisa) Praska, of Brainerd, and Dale (Joan) Ranney, of Aitkin; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Alfred Praska and James Ranney; son, Darrel; grandson, Stephen; brothers, John, Alvin, and Phillip; and sisters, Helen, Ella, and Florence.
