Ronald Schroeml, 68, of Brainerd, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 4-7 PM, Thursday, May 12 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Private Family Interment.
Ron was born April 5, 1943 in Little Falls, the son of Edward and Veronica (Dombovy) Schroeml. Ron moved to Brainerd at the age of 10. After graduating high school, he worked and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad as a machinist. In 1992, he married Shirley Anderson in Sturgis, SD. Together, the couple owned and operated the Ninth Street Bar in Brainerd. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had a passion for motorcycles and loved attending the Sturgis motorcycle rally. Ron was a member of the VFW, Eagles and Moose Lodge. He was also a judge for the Minnesota Golden Gloves Boxing Association.
Ron was well known for his sense of humor and joke telling. He seemed to never tell the same joke twice.
He will be missed by his wife, Shirley; son, Craig Schroeml, of Brainerd; step-children, Heidi Landin, of Brainerd, Justin (Pete) Soderman, of Brainerd, Kendall Kalweit, of California, and Kris Kalweit, of Brainerd; sisters, Beverly (Barry) Mudford, of Brainerd, Diane (Wilbert) Gildart, of Brainerd; ; his mother-in-law, Virginia Anderson, grandchildren, Zach, Caleb, Sam and Jayden; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.
