Ronald Frederick Martin, 72, of Pillager died at his home on Thursday, May 7, 2015. Services for Ron will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11:00AM at Casino Assemblies of God Church in rural Pillager, MN with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN from 5:00-7:00PM and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at a later date.
Ron was born on July 24, 1942 in West Bend, WI. Ron lived in the Pillager area, with his parents Elven and Florence (Peterson) Martin, where he attended school and graduated from Pillager High School in 1960. Ron served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964. He lived in Brainerd after returning from the Army, where he was employed at Potlatch for twenty-two years. Ron retired in 1986 due to a motorcycle accident. Ron loved living on his hobby farm with his donkeys and his McCormick tractor. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Ron was a member of The Northern Lights Motorcycle Club in Brainerd, MN.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Lori Martin of Brainerd, MN and Sheri (Chris) Hanson of Pillager, MN; six grandchildren, Melinda, Shane, Tony, Taylor, KayLie, and Kelsie; one great-grandchild, Natalie; and sister, Ruth (Gene) Morse of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elven and Florence; and brother, David Martin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
