Ronald A. Eide, 73, of Fifty Lakes, MN, died Friday, July 01, 2011 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born February 6, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN, to Gustav and Leone Eide. He graduated from Richfield High School and the University of Nebraska - Omaha with a BS Degree in Criminal Justice. A Vietnam Vet and two-time recipient of the Bronze Star for valor and meritorious service while serving in combat, he retired from the US Army in 1980 holding the rank of Major after 20 years of active service. He was active in the American Legion and also held the position of mayor of Fifty Lakes.
He enjoyed six months a year in Florida, golfing and vacationing - making several trips to Europe and the Mediterranean. The summers at home were spent golfing with his Crosswords buddies and hosting visiting family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife, Marge; daughter, Rhonda (Robert) Wagner; sons, Robin (Roxanne) Eide and Chris (Denise) Eide; six grandson; two granddaughters; and his sister, Sharon (Dennis) Sandin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Olson.
A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Military Honors will be provided by the Crosslake and Fifty Lakes American Legion at 4:00 PM. Private Interment at Swanburg Cemetery.
