Ronald Crawford, Sr., age 70, of Brainerd, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, at St. Josephs Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, July 5, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter with the Rev. Bob Evans officiating. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM Thursday at the Chapel. Interment will follow at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Ronald Bruce Crawford was born October 4, 1936, in Springfield, MA, the son of Charles and Vivian (Chapman) Crawford. Following his schooling he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving there for 4 years. Following a brief time in civilian life he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his career in the Air Force he became a Sr. Master Sergeant working as a jet fighter aircraft mechanic at several different bases. On April 16, 1974, he was united in marriage to Chun Cha Kim. After serving his country for 21 years in the Air Force he retired but accepted a position as plant manager for Boise Cascade moving to Yakima, WA, in 1984. In October of 2006 they moved to Brainerd to be near their son and his family. Among the things he enjoyed were hunting, fishing and playing golf.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Vivian. He is mourned in passing by his wife of 40 years, Chun; children, Glen (Ann) Crawford, Joi (Raymond) Pailthorpe, Laurie Briggs, and Gerald Crawford, all of New Jersey, and Ronald, Jr. (Cindy) of Cambridge, MN; 14 grandchildren; and a sister, Judy Crawford of Boston, MA.
