Ronald Craven

Ronald L. Craven, age 82, of Pine River, MN, passed away April 26, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, April 30, at Riverview Church, Pine River, with Pastor Tristan Borland officiating.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Olive Craven; and eleven month old daughter, Gayle Craven. He is survived by his wife, Helena Craven; son, Daniel Craven (Lynnette); and grandson, Connor Craven. He is also survived by siblings: Karen Miedtke, Theresa Craven and Scott Craven; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and an aunt.

Ron attended school in Huntley, MN, graduating from Fairmont High in 1952. While attending the University of Minnesota he participated in basketball and baseball. He was a pitcher on the U of M's first NCAA National Championship Team in 1956. Ron worked as an educator several years before returning to the Huntley-Winnebago area to farm. After retirement Ron and Helena moved north to Pine River, a short distance from their cabin, spending their time fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Ron's character, faith and animated personality showed through in his everyday life with family, friends and his many varied acquaintances.
