Roland Saethre

Pastor Roland A. Saethre was born January 9, 1921, at Grand Marais, MN, to Alfred and Mabel (Berglund) Saethre and died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at the Senior Class Care Center, Pequot Lakes, MN, at the age of 94. He graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, in 1943 and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, in 1945 and was ordained at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Grand Marais, MN. He faithfully served parishes at Circle, MT, Milford, IA, Oklee, MN, Comstock, MN, Finland, MN, Hibbing, MN, and Moorhead, MN. Roland married Bernice Sorestad on April 24, 1946. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1958, then in the Air Force Reserve, retiring in 1986 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.


Roland is survived by his children: Rev. John (Debby) Saethre, Renee (David) Anderson, Margaret (Louis) Iverson, Tom Saethre, Naomi (Randy) Kennicutt; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters: Eleanor, Irene, Lorraine; brothers: Dale, Chester and Roy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; and siblings: Olive, Lyle, Carolyn and Russell.

Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, August 1, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Our Savior's Cemetery, Pequot Lakes. Memorials may be given to Our Savior's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
