Roger Seehase (74) from Emily MN, formerly of Sumner, IA, passed away at his home on June 3, 2023, after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Roger was born in Sumner, IA in 1948 to Raymond and Geraldine (Boedecker) Seehase. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buck Creek. He attended country school at Dayton #6 through 5th grade and graduated from Sumner Community Schools in 1966. After graduation he joined the Army National Guard out of Oelwein, IA, where he was honorably discharged in 1973 as an E7 Sergeant First Class. Roger worked for Fridley Feed Mills in Sumner, IA from 1966 to 1972. He began working at Kent Feeds out of Waterloo, IA in 1972, was transferred to Marshall, MO in 1976 as a Plant & Production Superintendent and retired from Kent Feeds in 2003.

In September of 1969, he married Debra Duhrkopf. They would later divorce, but two sons were born of this union; Travis of Sumner, IA and Tyson of Adel, IA.

While in Sumner he was on the Sumner Volunteer Fire Dept. and a member of the Sumner Jaycees. In Marshall he was on the Chamber of Commerce Board and on the fund-raising committee. He was also the president of the Marshall Bowling Association for two years.

In April of 1985 he married the love of his life Bonnie Akeman in Marshall, MO, where they lived until he retired in March of 2003. They moved to Macon, MO for a few years and then on to Emily, MN in 2012 which was his lifelong dream. Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, bowling, golf and in his younger years fastpitch softball. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, his board member position with the Emily – Outing Snowbirds Snowmobile Club and was a trail groomer operator.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie; two sons, Travis (Susan) Sumner, IA and Tyson (Sarah) Adel, IA; one sister, Elldred (Elly) (Jim) Fink; six grandchildren, Callahan, Jaydlin, Klay, Alivia, Calli, and Miah.

Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Snowbirds Snowmobile Club.

Services will be 11:00am on Monday, June 19th, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Outing, MN. Visitation will begin one hour prior. A light lunch will follow the service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
