Roger R. Brown,90, formerly of Staples, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 16 at Alvarado Medical Center in La Mesa, CA. Born in Staples, he was the son of the late Walter C. Brown and Cora Lee (Wolff) Brown. Roger was a WWII veteran who proudly served his country overseas in Panama, Italy and Okinawa. He served as a flight engineer in the Army/Air Corps and retired from the California Air National Guard. He was a retiree of General Dynamics Convair in San Diego, CA where he worked as an aircraft mechanic helping to build airplanes and space shuttles. He also worked on missiles in Kansas and New York. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, La Mesa, CA and a lifetime member of the VFW. Roger (KE6PW) was a Ham Radio enthusiast and was a member of several radio clubs in the San Diego area.
Surviving are three daughters: Cora M. wife of Bill Conrad of Columbia,PA; Marianne I. wife of Robert Gamet of Tucson, AZ; Ruth H. wife of Kenneth Krupa of La Mesa, CA ; a son, Raymond I Brown of La Mesa, CA; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Harue (Mickey) Yoshida Brown and a son, Walter I Brown.
There will be a graveside service at Moran-Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, February 4 at 11:00.
