Robyn Semmler

June 20, 1968 — May 2, 2021

Robyn Semmler, age 52, of Longville, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. She was born on June 20, 1968, in Cambridge, MN, to Karen and James “Jim” Hanson.

Robyn lived in various places throughout her childhood, but spent many wonderful summers with her grandparents, Burton and Myrtle Livgard, on Mule Lake. She graduated from Northland High School in Remer, MN, where she met John through her older brother, Mark. They started dating between high school graduation and her first year of college at Winona State. Four years later, she graduated with her B.A. in Elementary Education from Saint Cloud State, and she and John were married shortly after. In 1997, John and Robyn welcomed their first child, Zachary. Andrea “Annie”, Alyssa, and Wyatt completed the family shortly after (four kids in five years). “Mom was a superhero”, Annie said, after having Robyn’s beloved grandson, Ryker.

Robyn loved her family more than anything in the whole world, but also loved family events, especially “Family Fall Fest.” She loved watching her kids play sports and cheering them on (too loudly). Robyn loved teaching and children. She enjoyed cooking (and was very good at it), gardening, and taking their dogs, Abby and Oddie, out for walks.

Robyn’s faith and love for God were very important to her. She was a Sunday School and VBS teacher for many years., as well as a longtime active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Longville. Robyn loved butterflies and dragonflies because they symbolized to her the new life and forgiveness God gave through her Savior, Jesus, no matter what.

Robyn is survived by her children: Zachary, Andrea “Annie”, Alyssa and Wyatt Semmler; and grandchild, Ryker Rubner. She was preceded in death by her father, James “Jim” Hanson; mother, Karen Anderson; and brother, Mark Hanson.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, May 23, at John Semmler’s residence: 2391 State 84 NW, Longville.
