Robert J. Wonders, 81, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 22 at 11AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5-7PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill, in Staples.
Robert was born to Anthony and Hattie (Jaglo) Wonders on January 2, 1932 in Staples. He grew up and attended High School in Staples, graduating with the class of 1950. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Spreiter, on May 30, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, that same year he enlisted in the Army where he served in France during the Korean conflict. He worked in the transportation business with the Railroad as a brakeman for 39 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, cutting wood, ricing, and enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the Table of Knowledge. He loved his Grandkids.
He is survived by Marge, his wife of 59 years; children, Doug (Debbie) Wonders of Motley, Ron (Ruby) Wonders of Pequot Lakes, Karen (Joe) Zetah of Cushing; brother, Tony (Pat) Wonders of Yakamah, WA; sister, Betty Smith of Staples; 6 grandchildren; special Aunt; Dorothy Trana; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Hattie (Jaglo) Wonders; brothers, Jerry, Jim, and Bill; and sister, Margie.
