Robert John “Bob” Stock, aged 86, passed away at his home he shared with his wife Sue in Crosslake Minnesota.
Born in St. Paul, the son of Charles and Helen Stock, he was a 1954 graduate of Mechanic Arts High School and was a member of the bowling team.
After High School, Bob joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1954 to 1957, and afterward the Naval Reserve until he joined the Coast Guard in 1961. There he served 20 years and retired from active duty in 1981 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Among his many assignments, he sailed on board the USCGC Mellon WHEC-717, and received citations and awards in the North and South Pacific, the Far East and the Vietnam War theater. Remaining with his family in Honolulu, Hawaii, he continued to work as a civil servant at multiple agencies including for the USCG 14th District, Marine Safety Division-Merchant Marine Licensing and the Honolulu Federal Building until his retirement in 2002.
While away from Hawaii, Bob annually spent Spring-to-Autumn as a proud resident of Crosslake. He was an active member of American Legion Post 500, spending many of his days having “coffee with the boys”, fishing and enjoying Minnesota sunsets from his home on Goodrich Lake.
Bob is survived by his wife Susan, his surviving sisters Mary Romer and Margaret Stock, his daughters Linda Stock of Colorado and Karen Stock Wilson (Paul) of Maine, his sons David Stock of Oregon, Timothy Stock of Florida, Daniel Stock (Mae), Jerome Stock (Chamelia) of Oregon; stepdaughters Susann Korzen of Georgia, Sarah Riehn and Shelley Reinke of Wyoming. He has 5 granddaughters; Ashley Goodnight, Courtney Tassitano, Madison Wilson, Megan and Nalani; 2 grandsons, Thomas Goodnight and Jonathan U.; and 2 great grandsons, Brody and Killian.
Bob will be laid to rest with full military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 1000 hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Crosslake.
