Robert Gordon Stimson, age 77, of Backus, Minnesota died Monday, September 17, 2007 in Galveston, TX at the home of his daughter, Teri Lee McGregor.
He was born May 10, 1930 in Whipholt, to John and June Stimson. He lived in Whipholt for 10 years where his parents owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Tavern.

He was a graduate of Redondo High School in California. He went to college before serving three years in the United States Army from 1950  1952. He was a full time fireman in California for 10 years. He had a plumbing business, Stimson Plumbing, Your Personal Plumber.All of his customers were as special to him as he was to them. He married Mary in 1970 and moved back to Minnesota in 1982. Bob was an avid surfer, skin diver and sailor while in California. He probably spent more time on, in and under the Pacific Ocean than on dry land.

Retired, he spent his free time fishing, hunting and building a house on 54 - south of Longville - then rebuilding a house in Backus. Finally old age set in and he spent much time drowning worms.

He was a member of the Longville Community Church, a past member of Longville Lions, the R.S.V.P. volunteers, and a friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and June, his brother Dick Stimson.

He will be missed by his wife, Mary; son and daughter-in-law, Hollis and Wendy Linehan, and their children, Micah Linehan, Melanie Linehan, Marie Linehan, Sean Linehan, and Shane Linehan; his daughter and son-in-law, Teri Lee and Gary Lee McGregor, and their children, Yvonne and Carlos Alvarez and their children, Mia Aguilera, Carlos Alvarez, Jr., Devon Alvarez, James Huerta, Billie Jo and Greg Geison and their children, Kaitlyn Geison, Justin Geison, Emily Geison, Gary Lynn McGregor, and Ashley McGregor; daughter, Nicki McMullen and her children Taylor, Jenna, and Kendra; a sister, Andrey Bach; aunts, Lorraine Jensen and Margaret Huset; and many cousins from all over Minnesota.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Longville Community Church in Longville, Minnesota.
