Robert Sechser

Robert James Sechser, 82, of Pine River, MN went peacefully to the Lord surrounded by his loving family at his home on Monday, November 21, 2016. Funeral Services for Robert will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pine River, MN with Father Mike Patullo officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 5:00-7:00PM with a prayer service at 6:45PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Pine River, MN.

Robert was born on August 31, 1934 in Parker, South Dakota to John and Sarah (Nugent) Sechser. He graduated from Pine River High School before entering the United States Air Force in 1954. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1957, Robert married Beverley Bair on November 29, 1958 in Pine River, MN at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Robert worked for Erie Mining following his discharge. In 1971, Robert began his 25-year career as a machinist with Burlington Northern Railroad where he was employed until his retirement in 1996. Robert and Beverley raised their family on a little hobby farm in Jenkins, MN, and after 31 years Robert built a cabin on Big Portage Lake in Backus, MN where they moved and lived until 2012. In 2012 they moved to Pine River, MN. Robert enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, camping, and being outdoors. He also liked hunting and fishing, and loved to garden and watch and feed the birds in his yard. Robert's greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his wife, Beverley, of 58 years of Pine River, MN; children, Gary (Laura) Sechser of Pine River, MN, Patricia (Tom) Seidel of Pine River, MN, Michael (Carol) Sechser of Cohasset, MN, Mary (Warren Kearney) Seidel of Minneapolis, MN, Paul (Sheila) Sechser of Pequot Lakes, MN, Joseph (Amber) Sechser of Pine River, MN, Barbara Bengquist of Pine River, MN, Charles Sechser of Slayton, MN, Julie (Kurt) Nordstrom of Verndale, MN, twenty-six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Jeanne (John) Stranne of Pine River, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah; brothers, Clifford and John; and sisters, Geraldine and Lois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel at Baxter, MN.
