Robert D. Scott, 80, of Cross Lake, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Crosby Care Center. Robert D. Scott was born May 5, 1923 in Pekin, IL to Harry and Florence (Reese) Scott. Robert graduated high school from Lincoln in 1941. He was united in marriage to Helen Jackson on November 25, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. Robert served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. Following his honorable discharge they made their home in Peoria, IL until 1963 then moved to Wisconsin and finally on to Minneapolis from 1965 until 1991 where he was postmaster of the Hopkins Post office. Following retirement they moved to Crosslake where he was mayor from 1997 to 98. Robert attended the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church. He was a member of the American Legion Club #500 in Crosslake, the Rotary Club and the Lake Country Computer Club.
Robert D. Scott will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him including his 3 daughters: Sandra Kaub & husband Lowell of Edgerton, WI; Sheila Mikles & husband Stanley of Crosslake; and Debbie Moengen & husband John of Crosslake, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Robert Jr., and one sister, Betty.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 12, 11:00 AM, at the Log Church in Crosslake with Rev. David Harvey and Rev. Fred Cressman officiating. Interment will be at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake with full military rites being conducted by the Crosslake Legion Club #500. Friends may visit on Wednesday, June 11 from 5-7:00 at the funeral chapel and on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Robert D. Scott Memorial Fund to be later designated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
