Robert C. Moberg, 85, of Pine Center, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Care Center in St. Cloud, MN. A Memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church at Bulldog Lake near Hillman, MN with Father Paul Fruth officiating. Friends are welcome to visit after 9:30 AM. Interment will be at a later date at Dykeman Union Cemetery in Pine Center. Memorials are preferred.
Robert Clayton Moberg was born December 23, 1922 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Robert L. and Evelyn (Benson) Moberg. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, Robert married Doris Bloom on December 19, 1941. He then enlisted in the Coast Guard where he served for nine months before contracting meningitis and being honorably discharged. He was called up by the St. Louis Cardinals to pitch but unfortunately, his arm wasnt able. Prior to being called up, he played for semi-professional baseball teams. Bob returned to the Minneapolis area where he worked for Minnesota Paint and later Morris Creamery as a milkman for 20 years. On September 10, 1975 he was united in marriage to Eleanore (Zulawski) Stellmach Robak. He moved to Pine Center and purchased a local grocery store which he operated for 11 years, Mobergs Grocery.
Bob had a sense of humor like no other. He was constantly making people laugh, and his jovial and happy outlook was infectious. Bob was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching sporting events on television. He also enjoyed bird watching. Each morning he would have to wish his cardinals good morning. Bob liked to fish and play Bingo and Cribbage. Bob adored his family and friends, and they adored him.
He will be missed by his wife of 32 years, Eleanore Ellie(Zulawski, Stellmach - Robak) Moberg, of Pine Ceneter; his son, Steven Robert Moberg, of Minneapolis; his daughter, Karen (Kenneth) Dombovy, of Brainerd; his stepsons, Gordon (Rita) Stellmach, of Zimmerman, Ron (Lilah) Stellmach, of Foley, Charlie (Jodie Williams) Stellmach, of Pine Center, Rich (Stacy) Stellmach, of Sartell, Scott (Laura) Robak, of Brainerd, and Tim (Deb) Robak, of Hillman; his stepdaughter, Mitzi (Larry) Dubbin, of Hillman; two grandsons, Derrick and James; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jared; nine step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren; his sister, Lois (Robert) Larson, of Cyrstal; his niece, Missy (Tim) Tekautz, of Mounds View; his nephew, Matthew (Lisa) Larson, of Jordan; and many great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Doris; and his step-grandson, Corey Dubbin.
