Robert Orris Lannoye, age 64, of Backus, MN, passed away October 17, 2016, at his home after a very long, hard battle with brain cancer. Rob was born on August 14, 1952, in Monticello, MN, and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He grew up in the Big Lake, MN, area and attended college at St. Cloud State University. He married Deb (Senger) Lannoye in 1987 and they divorced in 1998. Rob worked for the Sherburne County, MN, Sheriff's Dept. until his divorce, then moved to Fort Yukon, AK, where he continued his work in law enforcement. Rob later moved to Bethel, AK, where he worked as a behavioral health coordinator at the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation. He moved to Backus shortly after his cancer diagnosis.
Rob loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, spearing and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed photography and listening to music. Although Rob didn't belong to a church, he read the Bible and practiced his religion in his home. He always said a person didn't need to go to church to be close to God because God is everywhere.
Rob is survived by his children: Brian Lannoye, Rachelle (Lannoye) Weber; mother, Donna (Jensen) Lannoye; brothers: Rick Lannoye, David Lannoye; sister, Valerie (Lannoye) Millman; and grandchildren: Olivia Lannoye, Madalyn Lannoye and Ella Lannoye. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Clayton Lannoye.
A celebration of Rob's life will be held next spring in Big Lake, MN.
