Robert Roman Henke, 72, of Baxter, MN died peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Memorial arrangements for Robert will take place as follows: Visitation - Monday, January 11, 2016 5:00-7:00pm and Funeral Service - Tuesday January 12, 2016 11:00am (visitation one hour prior). All events will take place at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN. Interment will take place in the spring at Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.

Bob was born March 14, 1943 in Waconia, MN to Wilfred and Dolores (Meuwissen) Henke. He graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School. Bob proudly served in the US Navy Armed Forces aboard the USS Essex during the Vietnam War. After receiving honorary military discharge, Bob worked at Excel Energy for 33 years, retiring in 1999.

Bob was united in marriage to Kim Smith on March 27, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV. Bob had a zest for life, socializing and making new friends no matter where or what the occasion. He especially cherished being able to spend time with his family. Bob's favorite hobbies involved fishing, hunting, bowling, cooking, and volunteering wherever he could help. Bob held many positions in various community organizations; a few of which included Commander of the Legion in Monticello, member of the Forty and Eight, and founder/Chairman of the Board at Henke Hill (Sturgis, SD).

Bob is survived by his wife, Kim (Smith) Henke; children, Debra Kraft, Linda Cooper, Steven (Neysa Kay) Henke, Bobbi (Jason) Thiesse, Peter Finch, Sarah (Matthew) Larson, Matt Renczykowski, Erin Renczykowski; brother, James Henke; Mother-in-law, Marjorie Smith; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild (to be born in March). He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Henke; mother, Dolores Henke; son, David R. Henke; sister-in-law, Marianne Henke; father-in-law, Keith Smith; brother-in-law, Tommy Krantz. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
