Robert Gronau

Born in New Ulm, MN on August 23, 1934 to Marie & John Gronau. Passed peacefully on September 27, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN. Bob graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1954. Bob served in the Marine Corps from 1954-1957, then enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1958-1981. Serving our country, a total of 26 years. He was stationed all over the world throughout his military career with 2 tours in the Vietnam War and 1 tour in the Korean conflict. Bob lived in Brainerd, MN after his retirement from the service and owned a landscaping/snow plowing business for many years. Bob was very involved at the Nisswa American Legion and served as post commander from 1999-2000. He is survived by his sister, Judith (Gerald) Lausen, nieces, Patti (Mark) Friske and Beth Lausen. Also, loved by his great-niece, Isabel Friske and his great-nephew, Ian Friske. He will be missed by his family and many friends. The memorial service will be held at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel (7348 Excelsior Road, Baxter MN 56425) on Monday, October 7th at 11:00am, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.  A reception will immediately follow at the Nisswa American Legion. An interment will take place at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN following the reception.
