Robert Gearey

Robert "Bob" Gearey, age 93, of Pine River, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. He was born to Victor and Ethel Gearey on March 18, 1920, in Pine River.

Bob graduated from Pine River High School in 1938, and furthered his education in Normal Training, which he completed in 1941. Bob taught until 1943. He served in U.S. Army during World War II from April 15, 1943, until March 21, 1946. Bob was united in marriage to Isabel Vogtlin on March 11, 1946, at the Onamia Chapel. He graduated from Minnesota School of Business, with a degree in accounting in January of 1948. Bob worked as an accountant in Marshall and Little Falls, then in 1953 went to work for MP&L, retiring in 1981 as a District Manager. While with the company he worked in Park Rapids, Long Prairie and Pine River.

Bob is survived by his wife, Isabel; six children: Janice (Randy) Kieffer, Robert (Judy) Gearey, Eileen (David) Fisher, Mike Gearey, Stephen (Barb) Gearey, Paul (Tammy) Gearey; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathrine and Doris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Patrick; sister, Phylis; brothers, James and Clayton.

Services will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 20, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
