Robert J. Garin, 75, of Crosslake, passed away while on vacation in Laughlin, NV on February 28, 2007. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday, March 9, 2007 at Crosslake Lutheran Church with Reverend Andy Smith officiating. There will be a visitation Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake. Interment will follow services at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake with military honors provided by American Legion, Post 500. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The Family plans on creating a Baseball Memorial in Bobs name.
Robert was born in Bloomington, MN on June 21, 1931 to George and Florence (Peterson) Garin. He was united in marriage to Kay Roetzer on December 31, 1955. The couple moved to the Crosslake area in 1972. Bob was involved with the City of Crosslake in numerous ways. Bob retired from the Crosslake Fire Department after more than 25 years of service. He was also a former Chief of the Fire Department and a Past Commander of the American Legion. He was a founder of T. Ball and became an active member of the American Legion Baseball program, where he also served as a District 6 Director for Legion Baseball. He enjoyed sports and hunting with his grandchildren.
He is survived by wife of 51 years, Kay; his daughter, Cindy (Blaine Johnson) Garin, of Chanhassen; his son, Buck (Karla) Garin, of Crosslake; and four grandchildren, Evan, Nolan, Whitney, and Drew, of which he was very proud.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake, MN.
