Robert Fred Anderson, 88, of Baxter, died Monday, March 05, 2007 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living. Funeral Services and Internment are scheduled for 12:30 PM, Thursday, March 8, at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
Robert was born October 28, 1918 in Slayton, MN, to Louis and Elenora (Wierauch) Anderson. He enlisted in the United State Army in 1942 at Fort MacArthur in California and served for three and 1/2 years. He was active in the Pacific Theater during World War II and received a number of medals, including: Good Conduct Medal and Asiatic and Philippines Liberation Campaign Medal. He was a member of the VFW in Brainerd, Post 1647. In 1947, Robert married Bernice L. Eichorst. Robert worked as a baker at the Cox Bakeries in Brainerd and Cloquet and Super Valu Bakery in Brainerd. In his younger years, Robert played accordion in a band. He enjoyed fishing, observing nature and befriending wildlife.
Robert will be missed by his wife, Bernice Anderson; his children, Wayne (Shirley) Roemhildt, of Elysian, Bonne Roemhildt, of Stillwater, Norman Anderson, of Ironton, and Kerry (Paul) Coates, of El Capitan, NM; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carl Anderson, Eleanor Schorn, Vernell Wild, Florence Peterson, and Luella Stewart.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
