Robert Dabill

June 21, 1946 — September 29, 2020

Robert Warner “Bob” Dabill, 74, of Avon Park, FL, entered peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 29, 2020 at his summer home in Pine River, MN, surrounded by his wife and family. Bob was born in Pequot Lakes, MN on June 21, 1946, to Gaylord and Faith Dabill. After graduating from Ely High School, he attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Davidson, on May 28, 1966, and 9 days later was drafted by the U.S. Army and stationed in Fort Campbell, KY for 2 years. After his military service, he moved to Wadena, MN to raise his two boys and manage a wholesale lumber and truss company. He finished his career by moving to Baxter, MN and partnering with Manion’s to start and successfully grow a truss plant in Pillager, MN.

Bob had a strong work ethic (“work is fun!”), could get anything done (“can’t isn’t a word”), became a trusted friend and advisor to many, and enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. He was known for his construction and woodworking skills, was an avid woodsman and deer hunter, and loved taking family trips and investing in his grandkids. Most importantly, he was passionate about his personal relationship with Jesus and lived it out daily through Bible study, prayer, faithful involvement and attendance at church, generous giving, helping others and sharing his faith. He had a great love for missions and spent many winters with his wife in Honduras leading teams on work projects, maintaining and upgrading facilities, making deep friendships, and sharing the love of Jesus and hope of salvation. Bob will be greatly missed by family and friends and has passed on a tremendous legacy and example of a life well lived for Jesus Christ.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlene; sons, Rick (Anna) Dabill of Baxter, MN, and Ron (Renee) Dabill of Lindstrom, MN; grandchildren: Ailiana, Eva, and Brant, Emmelie, Irene, and Lila; siblings: Joan Horn, Bill (Rae) Dabill, Phil (Linda) Dabill, and Mike (Lu) Dabill. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Faith Dabill, and sister, Helen Larson.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held Saturday, October 3 at Riverview Church in Pine River. Visitation will start at 9:30am in the fellowship hall with the funeral service to follow at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bob are preferred and will be used for a missions project in Honduras.  The memorial service will be streamed live on Riverview Church's Youtube Channel.
