Robert Crandall

Robert "Bob" Crandall, 95, Staples, (formerly Long Prairie), died Friday, August 30, 2019 at his home.  Bob’s funeral will be 11 AM, Saturday, September 7th at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples, with Rev. Anthony Hilden (his nephew) officiating.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at 3 PM, Saturday at the Carsonville Cemetery (Linnell), Ponsford, MN.

Bob was born on February 23, 1924 in Carsonville Township, Becker County, north of Osage, MN, son of William and Florence (Stearns) Crandall.  Bob married Linda Buck on November 24, 1972 at Watertown, SD.

Bob farmed by Osage, worked several years for Clyde Johnson Construction, clearing power lines, roads, etc. with heavy equipment.  He moved to the Twin Cities in 1962, where he worked for American Lumber.  He moved to Long Prairie, MN in 1975, where Bob and his brother, Arnold, started Crandall Home Improvement, which he continued until 1986.  He then kept busy with hobby farming and blading roads for Long Prairie Township until the age of 92.  He and Linda moved to Staples, MN, in 2016 when he finally retired.  He enjoyed hunting, bird watching and being outdoors.

Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda of Staples; his daughters: Nadine Arvidson of Tulsa, OK, Norine (Denny) Russell in Texas, and Nannette (Rob) Clifford of Anchorage, AK; his sons: Robert (Dianna) Crandall of Brainerd, MN and David (Tina) Crandall of Browerville, MN; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings and his son, Daniel Crandall.
