Robert L. (Bob) Case Sr., age 82, of Staples, passed away Monday morning at Lakewood Health System in Staples. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Friday, April 3, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Visitation will be Thursday night, April 2, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples from 5 7 PM with Parish Prayers at 6:30 PM. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
Robert L.(Bob) Case Sr. was born on October 20, 1926, to Cyril V. and Lillie M. Case. He attended school in Staples and graduated with the Class of 1944. Bob went to work for the Northern Pacific R.R. in 1943. He joined the Navy in 1944, and served his country in the South Pacific during World War II. He was stationed aboard the destroyer John D. Henley. He was discharged as Seaman First Class on July 24, 1946. Bob returned to Staples and worked for the Northern Pacific. He married Patricia Anne Jay on June 25, 1949. Bob retired from the Burlington Northern R.R. in 1989. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a life long member of the Robert W. Hand, Post 1910
Bob is survived by his wife Pat, children Bob Jr. (Pennee) of Cloquet; Cindy (Wayne) Bostel of Burnville; Doug (Toni) of Staples; Dan (Gina) of Apple Valley; Bill (Lisa) of Kannapolis, NC; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bruce Case.
