Robert Brand

Robert Brand, 77, Baxter, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, June 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Mark Kleckner officiating. Interment will follow services at 4:00 PM, June 14 at the Garrison Cemetery in Garrison, MN. Friends may visit 2 PM until 4 PM, Sunday, June 13 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Robert was born December 16, 1926 to Fred and Ida Brand in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. After graduating high school, Robert worked at ship yards in Washington. He enlisted in the Navy, and after his honorable discharge he worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis for 37 years. In 1984, he retired and moved to Round Lake, near Nisswa and then to Baxter in 2004. He was united in marriage to Laverne Martineau June 19, 1948. Laverne passed away June 12, 1998. On May 20, 1999 Robert married Dorothy Jones-Lunzer at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Robert was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Brainerd VFW Post 1647. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard work and dancing.

Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy; step-daughters, Penny (Jim) Messersmith, of Aitkin, Colleen (Jim) Zupko, of Brainerd; step-sons, Warren (Sandy) Halverson, of Fort Worth, TX, Patrick O?Neil, of Lompo, CA; sisters, Muriel Thurman, of Merysville,WA, Betty Martinez, of Manomen, MN, Beverly Arthur, of St. Louis Park, MN, Ruth Nerland, of Corcoran, MN, and Evon Dragan, of Minnetonka, MN; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne; his parents; and his brother, Russell.
