Robert Barsness, 71, of Brainerd, died Friday, March 02, 2007 at St. Josephs Medical Center. In accordance with Roberts wishes, private family services will be held. Memorials are preferred, to Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa or to Good Samaritan Hospice. Robert Arthur Barsness was born August 24, 1935 in Minneapolis, to Arthur and Evelyn (Sundquist) Barsness. He grew up in South Minneapolis and attended Washburn High School. He served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1954. Following his honorable discharge he worked in various sales jobs. He was united in marriage to Janet Burke in Minneapolis on February 2, 1957. Bob and Janet lived in Bloomington until moving to Nisswa in 1968. They owned and operated the Beehive clothing and variety store in Nisswa for nine years. After semi-retiringBob opened and operated the T and B Pawn Shops in Brainerd, Hibbing, Virginia, and Cloquet. He and Janice enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. Bob loved fishing, riding motorcycles, and following the stock market. He was a fifty-year member of the American Legion. He had a wonderful sense of humor, even to the very end of his life. He loved his family above all else, and will be deeply missed. Robert is survived by Janet, his loving wife of fifty years; his children, Cheri (Stephen) Olson, Nevis, Bradley (Temple) Barsness, Breezy Point, Carla (Tom) Anderson, Side Lake, and Kristin (Bob) Cote, Edina; his grandchildren, Carston and Blake Olson, Michelle, Jenny, David, and Stephanie Barsness, Chase and Joe Anderson, and Jon, Kevin, and Kate Cote; a brother, Richard Barsness, Wadena; and a sister, Marie (Dennis) Clancy, Rosemount. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Barsness. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
